Due to a contract renewal problem, autopinger service was put on hold for more than a week. It's now been resolved and we're back in business!

After 14 months, Autopinger finally delivers 10 millions pings for more than 30,000 blogs and 700 podcasts. Let's call for a mini celebration. Our folks here are excited about it as more and more bloggers and podcasters are aware of Autopinger now.

We hope to provide a better service for all but due to our current time constraint, we're unable to. Please check back regularly in future to find out any updates.

Another database hiccup we've had in a year of operation. This time it seems like our database host doesn't like the idea of us connecting it from elsewhere rather than their own servers. Pfff!

Well, we've tried writing on Wikipedia a couple of times but were deleted by some wikipedia editors. Any autopinger member who's a Wikipidean would be kind enough to write us a page on Wikipedia?

After reviewing the stats from public polling and our ping services. RPC pings now only accounts for 4% of our total pings. We've decided to removed RPC ping service and concentrates on autoping mechanism as well as quickping button. If you've enabled RPC ping from your blogging software, it would not work now. Please kindly set up your blog to be autopinged in your Autopinger account.

Dear Members,

Autopinger was forced to shut down due to an issue with our host claiming that we have outraged the limit of system resources allocated for us. As a result, we had to relocated our database to another location for the time being. Meanwhile, everything works as usual now but we'll be looking at a possible long term solution after Autopinger V2 is completed.

I apologize for the downtime and inconvenience caused to everyone. We had a hard time trying to restore the site. We hope our dear members will continue to support us despite all these hiccups as we do not have good resources on hand. Hopefully it will in future.

Attention all existing Quick Ping and Quick Pod users, as I mentioned a few days ago, we have been receiving some spam from unknown "Quick Pingers" and we have decided to move the these features into the member's area. No doubt this will cause you some inconvenience but we are trying our best not to help spammers hitting hard on the search engines and aggregators so that we can be a reliable ping provider.

Now, all you have to do is sign up for a free account and regenerate your buttons again from the member's area. This will help us better monitor how the pings are served. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Autopinger has just passed the 2 weeks marks since we officially opened for registration. We are glad to have our first 1000th blogs registered and we have more features to come. So, hang in there and stay tuned for our updates.

We have noticed that there were a couple of common errors that users came across and posted in the forum. Therefore I will add in a FAQ section in our blog to post these common questions so that users will not be alarmed seeing these errors!

Some of you may have noticed that you had landed on an error page while visiting Autopinger.com earlier on. This is because our host seems to have a little issue with the database. Therefore, it caused some downtime like 10min. I had already clarified with the techs that the issue is fixed.

I had also double checked that our systems are running fine before I post this blog. So no more worries now!

Great news! I have updated the code base for the quick ping button now and all existing quick ping users don't panic, there is no need for you to change anything with your existing button. They all will work fine.

This change of code was to include any new ping services in future, so you don't have to regenerate your quick ping button or change anything with the button.

Well, a good sign to show that our users like our service so far. From the launch of autopinger on 29th July 2006, to date it has served more than 100,000 pings. Thanks for all your support!

Just a quick recap, podcasting has been around for a while and it's gaining momentum slowly over the internet as more people realise it's commercial value to introduce their products and events using podcast. Though this is encouraging, but often a novice might find podcasting a little more difficult to get started with. Well, it's all about saving your own voice/video clips, put them into a XML format with your media files information and share them with everyone. This gives rise to another search engine flavour that targets on podcasts together with many podcast directories. Once again, you need to inform the world that you have a new/updated podcast. In short, come listen to my podcast!

As an initiative to making podcast pinging easier, I introduce "Quick Pod Button" which I derived some thoughts from our most popular tool ( the Quick Ping Button). The Quick Ping Button has shown good acceptance amongst blogger.com users as well as other blog providers according to my stats :-) This is pretty encouraging as it shows our users like this One-Click-Ping-All method of handling blog pings. Therefore, I had given it another shot to provide "Quick Pod Button" to your blog/site to add more convenience for podcasters who manage many podcasts.

You will notice a "Quick Pod Button" on the ping podcast page and this will lead you to the configuration page where you can set 1 to 5 podcasts at one time and we will generate the code for the "Quick Pod Button". So, once you have done that, paste the code into your blog/site and you have a One-Click-Ping-All button to ping your pre-configured 1 to 5 podcasts. Go try it here!

Recently through googling around, I found some interesting ideas that reveals one's creativity. Everyone is posting about the cost your his/her blog, or in another words "your blog worth"!

Interesting to know that people are using API exposed by Technorati or other providers to get a relative cost of your blog with respect to the whole blog-o-sphere.

Well, my curiosity again, I implemented my version of blog worth and it's available under the tools menu. I will be planning to add a podcast builder soon and hopefully some other interesting tools.
